Exhaust Tip Question

Hey guys, I want to buy a aftermarket chrome exhaust tip for my truck and I want it to come out the right side. But my stock exhaust is coming straight out the back, you think whoever installs tips can make it come out the side? thanks

Usually they can, they will probably cut the pipe and bend a new one. Dunno how much it will cost though.

I think many of the muffler shops now have done away with their pipe bending machines.

Every muffler shop in my town has a bending machine. Its the only way they can route pipes.

But the last time I had a muffler/pipes put on at local Midas shop, then sent out for the pipes. Maybe I just assumed they had no bending machine. This was 15 years ago for a slant 6 Dodge Aspen with single stock exhaust. I don't go to Midas anymore so I may be corrected.

Yeah, that shouldn't be a problem for any experienced muffler shop. I tend to go to local mom & pop type shops that have been around for years and years, but everyone has their own approach for who to take their stuff to for work. I'd suggest asking around to see who is good in your area.

 

I recently took my truck in and had some work done.. went from single out the back to duals w/ 2 tips each out the back. We talked about doing side-pipes, either in front of the rear wheels or behind the rear wheels. Ultimately, I decided out the back was best for me and what I like...

 

Here's what they did for mine.

 

 

Like I said, though, they could just as easily have taken them out the side, if I had opted for that.

The shop I went to to get my cherry bomb installed had a bending machine. I would think that any decent shop would have thier own bender. It makes no sense to have to send out for the pipes. That would make the install take days not hours.
