i recently picked up a 1993 s15 jimmy for pretty cheap as a "nickle & dime" fix up vehicle. it was pretty rusted towards the bottom of the doors but for the most part it's all cut out and patched. My driver-side door has some pretty serious rust in the bottom but i can't fix it unless i fix the sagging hinges. i know the hinge pins are the problem but my problem is i don't know how to remove them so that they can be replaced. my question is:

1. how do i go about removing the pins?

2. is it worth the trouble to do it myself or should i just leave it up to a body shop?

any help is appreciated.

thanks,

The hardest part is removing the little spring in there. A body shop supply store (Or NAPA) has a special tool for this that's about $20. Once you have the spring out it's a simple matter of using a drift and hammer to tap out the hinge pin, replace the bushings and pins and re-install the spring. It's best to have a buddy to help support the door while it's detached. Once you've done one the next time it'll be about a 45 minute project tops.
