'06 Silverado Quadrasteer

The vehicle is my cousins '06 Silverado Ex. Cab 4wd Quadrasteer.

The Service 4wd message is on the DIC. All signs point to the TC switch (PT#1513-6039), I've sourced at a local dealership for $46.

Questions are:

a.) Where is the switch located?

b.) Are there any computer resets that must follow the switch replacement?

c.) How many banana job is this?

Sorry, but it's been a while since I've turned a wrench on a Chevy!

I have a friend who had the same issue but because it was still under warranty, he took it to the dealer. Ended up it just needed a software flash and all worked fine. Your's is still under warranty...take it to the dealer.

He says the warranty is up. He is the second owner. Is this not true? I haven't dealt with GM for a while.

No, the truck is still under warranty and should be taken to a dealership to get it repaired. Factory warrantys go with the truck and not with the original driver. It shouldn't cost him a dime.

Provided the truck has less than 36,000 miles on it...the warranty on the 2006 model year was 3 years or 36,000 miles bumper to bumper - everything except for oil filers, oil, etc.

Well, assuming as he is the second owner and he didn't purchase it from a GM dealer with the truck being GM Certified, then he is out of warranty as stated. In that case, I'm no help...good luck!
