Mirror Swap Working

swapped my 07 camper type with signal, heat , pwr for the smaller type with only pwr, no signals, heat? Non fold pwr on neither.. The pwr works but do I need to re program because of the other options that were on the other mirrors. Will it screw anything up if it puts pwr to the plug with no option on the new mirror?

Well... I can't see how you could have anything to worry about.

 

Any "extra" signals sent to the new mirrors will simply not have anywhere to go. Power fold, signal, etc. Pins in the plug system that were there for the other mirrors with more options are simply not there on the new models right? As long as the power functions work, you should be good to go.

thanks, that s what I thought but the GM instructions stated I would have to do a re program with the swap. I guess I ll just leave it alone as they are working. Not sure if the mirror are heated (bought them used). Does that work with the defrost function? Do they have heated with no signals?

If they are heated they will have the little squiggly lines logo in the glass. Mine are non signal and heated.

 

EDIT: I would think you would have to program it if you went from the non option mirrors to the optioned ones but not the other way... just my opinion.

Good move! For what it's worth, on my 04 Silvy, I replaced the Camper power mirrors (with signal), with regular power folding, auto dimming, signal mirrors bought off eBay. Everything worked like a champ, no reprogramming needed. The same controls that used to extend and retract the camper mirrors now work to fold the mirrors when going into tight spots.

 

Personally, I greatly disliked the camper mirrors, really ruined the look of the truck as far as I was concerned. Never pulled a trailer big enough to need them anyway.
