6l80e Swap.

Ive found a 6L80E for $2600 from a Denali, I was wondering it should bolt up to the 5.3L 07 NBS truck with just a minor crossmember work.

I also know that the 07 NBS Denali uses the E38 ECM just like the 5.3L 07 NBS Silvy. Now the only question I have is if i get the harness with the tranny everything should be plug and play correct?

What about the TCM? I believe it's in the Tranny on the Denalis with the 6L80E. I think you are in for more than you bargained for. How about your factory warranty? I'd guess that'd be history for the entire drivetrain.

What's the big deal with these 6 speeds anyway? Personally, I like my smooth 4 spd, it's not "shift-happy" like 6 speeds are.

What transmission does your truck currently have in it? If it has the 4l65e then trying to swap out with a different tranmission is not going to work without spending ALOT of money, plus as stated above you will void your warranty.

The gearing on these 4 speeds is pretty crappy. They need a extra gear between 1st and 2nd due to the huge variation in the current ratios resulting in large stresses on the clutches during shifts. As well, you can't go wrong with another overdrive.

The 4 speeds have seperate TCM's as well, that is why some companies are having problems doing up handheld tuners for them. There are minor modifications that have to be done to the wiring harness, and maybe different size driveshafts (I've been told by guys doing the 6 speed swaps that the length of the transmission case is NOT the same as with the 4 speed). All in all it is pretty straight forward, I'm getting ready to do it myself as I need a new transmission anyhow once the supercharger goes on.

It came with the 4L60E but the ECM which is the E38 is also on the Denali Truck so its compatible maybe needs sometype of hybrid harness and a program for the new ECM.

Other then that dont care about the warranty.

Crossmember just needs to be rewelded with a new tranny mount location, and a custom driveshaft.

Some minor things here and there. But it is possible to swap tranny's out since it is the same bellhousing.

Yes i am. Just wondering if anyone on here knows more info on it. Spoke to the guys that did it but they didnt do it on a 5.3 let alone on a nbs.
