Winshield Wiper Help

Recommended Posts

Hi - 2002 Silverado base 4X4 - 37,000 miles. Had some snow and ice yesterday, cleaned most of the winshield off, but not enough of the wipers. Cycled them on and off and both finally broke free, but the dirver side started working before the passenger side. Still all ok yesterday - wipers worked fine.

Today after work driving along turned on the wipers to clear some rain - now it's rain and the passenger wiper seems real weak, won't move in sync with the driver side and only comes up a few inches and then kind of flops back down to park. They were working fine yesterday.

Are there some common parts, cams etc that might be replaceable, is it possible the problem is something simple.

Thanks

You probably don't need any new parts, just tighten the bolts under the little plastic covers at the base of the arm. I've had this happen numerous times over the years on my 99, usually after the shop has taken them off for some reason like windshield replacement...but a few times it was my fault when I tried to use them while still frozen to the windshield.

Lincoln: Appreciate that - it worked great and the loose nut was the problem. Had never messed with wiper problems before, so this forum really helped. As you know by now, it wasn't real loose, but I snugged it up some and all is well. Snugged up the driver side while I was at it.

Thanks again

Mike
