Remote Lock/unlock

I noticed the range decreased a lot. Last time this happened I just got a new battery and it was back to normal. This time the new battery made almost no difference. Anyone got any ideas? I am wondering where the receptor is that picks up the signal from the transmitter. Anyone have to buy a new remote? This is a '01.

Ive got the EXACT same issue with my 2000........interested in seeing what the solution might be.

Mine seems to work a lot better, in terms of range, in the summer. As soon as it gets cold the range seems to decrease and when it gets frigid it works with even less range. I wonder if the battery is getting weak?

I will be watching this post for ideas as well.

Touch the key FOB up against your chin when you press the button. It will increase the range.

What about people who have more than one chin? Does it matter which one? Kidding aside, my range dropped from about 150 feet to about 10 feet. I am guessing if I called the dealer and asked, they would say it needs a new transmitter or whatever part picks up the signal.

I noticed inside the remote fob, on the cover, there is some wording saying after replacing the battery, press lock and unlock next to the vehicle for 2 seconds. I dont remember doing this the last time I replaced the battery. Will give it a try later, see if it helps.

jhm - also consider the possibility that the new battery you installed might be bad or low. I had a clock problem with a computer motherboard years ago - I just about ended up replacing the motherboard before I tried yet another of the button batteries from a different store and the problem was solved.

Yes, I did consider that. I went out after work and pushed both buttons simultaneously a few feet from the truck and held them down for a few seconds. I heard a click from inside the truck. The remote is now back to normal. I guess doing that returns the settings to the factory default, I dont know but it worked.

Yes, I did consider that. I went out after work and pushed both buttons simultaneously a few feet from the truck and held them down for a few seconds. I heard a click from inside the truck. The remote is now back to normal. I guess doing that returns the settings to the factory default, I dont know but it worked.

 

I did that as well.............heard the locks cycle................but my range still sucks.............if im not within 10 feet of my truck I have to push the key fob a bunch of times before it will lock or unlock the truck...........im going to try another battery.
