Question!

Have a question about Z71's. My 99 GMC Sierra 1500 has the Z71 package, however only says "Z71" behind the rear fender wells. Almost every other Z71 I have seen says "Off Road" or "4x4" beneath it. Was there different levels or something? My truck has 4x4, so I'm stumped. I am assuming they just changed Decals from year to year. Anyone know?

Up until 2007, Z71 always meant 4X4 on full size trucks. It included bigger shocks and skid plates plus some other little things. 2007 and up you can get a Z71 2X4 or 4X4. Some earlier year Z71 stickers did say Off Road or 4X4 maybe, but meant the same thing.

If the 99-06 didnt have Z71, they didnt have the skid plates or the shocks, they can have the skid plates if ordered seperately. But with the new 2007.5+ Z71 doesnt mean what it used to.
