I own a 1995 2500 HD ext cab gas 2 whl dr. front brakes are disc rear are drum. I want to know if there is a way to change the axles so that I can have disc's on the rear.

I am not sure you would gain much by going to the disc rear brakes. If you replace the entire axle, it should be somewhat simple, except that you might have to install new rear brake lines, too, depending on the difference between ones for drum brakes and disc brakes.

GM actually abandoned rear disc brakes on '05 and later 1500 series because they had problems with them. New 1500 series have rear drum brakes. If I were you I would stay with the drums. Brake shoes wear out a lot slower than rear pads. In fact, they often last for well over 100k miles.

According to GM the 1500 stops quicker with drums than it did with discs.

Changing them out would certainly require more than just rear axle hardware. I'm sure the master cylinder is different between disc and drum... probably even the ABS controller. Might open a can of worms up trying to do it.
