Called the local parts place yesterday to find a price on a power steering pump (mines leaking), and was asked the question if it had "hydroboost". Anyway, I found out my truck has it by giving my last 8 of the vin to the parts guy. Can you tell me what it is?

thanks!

Generally on diesels, though not necessarily, hydraboost uses the hydraulically pressurized oil from the power steering pump for power assist on brakes instead of vaccuum assist. Diesels do not have the natural vacuum byproduct of the gasoline intake manifold. Another common reason is the reclaimed space in the engine room from the omission of the large vacuum diaphram on the brake master cylinder.

Oh i see. Thanks for the quick response. Much appreciated. I guess I'll spend the rest of the afternoon looking to see if the pump needs to be replaced or if it is just a hose. Anyway, thanks again and have a happy and safe holiday!
