Darn Scratch Body Shop?

A d**n basket at the mall hit my truck, Leaving 3 scratches, I managed to use scratch x to conceal the light ones, The biggest scratch looks like someone took a paint burning fat tip sharpie, It just removed the clearcoat. The paint is still there but looks very dull. What would something like a 3 inch 2 mm tall scratch run to fix? What would be the best place to go? Dealer, bodyshop?

Sorry to hear about your truck..I know how you feel..That happened to me a few years ago. I got a note on my windshield that said:

New truck $40,000

Going to the mall to go shopping $400.00

Parking far enough away to preserve the paint job on you're new truck.........Priceless!!!!!

Needless to say I was pissed....

Now I park so far away my wife makes me drop her off at the door first.

I don't want anyone or anything around it.

My suggestion is to find a mobile repair place and have them do a small basecoat/clearcoat spot repair within the damaged panel. I'm talking about an outfit that refinishes the panel with automotive coatings, not a paintless dent repair place that only removes dents. You'll definitely spend less than going to a body shop. It's really not the proper way to do things, but it's going to be a lot better than those touch-up bottle repair kits that are out there.
