I will be towing an 07 Altima (all four wheels off the ground) and about 500-700lbs of "stuff" to Texas this next week from Northern California. Is there anything that I need to do before I tow. This is my first time towing. I have an 04 GMC Sierra 4.8 and run full synthetic and a 91 tune from PCMforless. Is there a best way to load my boxes and clothes for this tow. Should I put everything in the bed of the truck or in the car being towed, or does it matter? Need help. Thanks.

should be fine, keep an eye on the temps and IMO, change the oil after the tow......................load up the stuff in the bed and then see how bad it is on the squatting.............

Go buy a $30 external tranny cooler if you are towing far. This thing is worth many times its weight in gold. It is cheap and easy to install. I have a 4.8 also and wish I would have done this sooner.

if you are using a car hauler make sure your car is postioned on the trailer correctly with the right tongue weight. This will make the truck more stable and the trailer will not try and steer the truck.

Remember to always give yourself ample braking distance. That means get off the gas at 4 to 5 times the distances that you normally would. This will allow the truck to slow down so you don't have to kill your brakes. Not to mention that with all that weight back there -- if you don't give yourself enough room to stop... you might have problems. So just take it easy on the off-ramps and driving fast through areas you are not familiar with. Just take er' easy and you should be fine putting your cargo wherever.
