Aftermarket Amp To Factory Bose Head Unit

Recommended Posts

I have a 2004 Silverado with Bose stereo. I have purchased an amp interface. On the back of the Stock head unit there is a 24 pin and another connector (i cant remember how many pins it has). I am looking for a wiring diagram that illustrates which color of wires go to which speakers. Any help would be appreciated as i have been fighting this all night.

Im sorry, can you elaborate, I have no idea what any of that means. What is an RPO? I have found several different websites with wiring diagrams however, the speaker wires that they show do not go all the way to the head unit. When I pull off the door panels, the speaker wires are the same as the diagram indicates but when i remove the head unit, the same color wires are not present.

The rpo code is on a label inside the glove box its a white label and should have about 6 rows of 3 letter combinations. If you can't find that you could give me the last 8 didgets of your vin and I can look up your rpo codes. The vin route is actually perfered cause I'll have all the data I need.

ok while im looking up the diagram I don't want to sound dumb but I am a tech and we really don't deal with after market stuff so I don't know what an amp interface is. Whats it for?

Its a little box with 5 wires, (ground, left speaker +, left speaker -, Right speaker +, and right speaker -) and RCA jacks. Pretty much you splice the wires coming from the box into your stock speaker wires then plug the RCA's into your amp. It allows you to run an aftermarket amp on a stock stereo. Im putting subs behind the rear seat.

gotcha, your wire colors are different because you have a stock amp you may want to take that out before installing another. give me a min ill get your wire colors both at the radio and amp if you want to do it there. Its under the rear of the console by the way.

I'm just going to give you pin #s to make it short cause I need to go to bed if you need wire colors repost and I'll get them to you tomorrow. At the radio A8 left front+, A9 left front-, B11 right front+ B10 right front-,B8 left rear+,B9 left rear-, A11 right rear+, A10 right rear-, at the amp there is 2 connectors connector 1 B10 left front+ in, B9 left front -in,B8 right front+in, B7 right front-in,B6 left rear+in, B5 left rear-in,B4 right rear+in, B12 right rear-in. I take that last post back I'm not sure what all will be affected by disconnecting the factory amp just a quick look at 1 diagram shows rear seat audio control will not work off hand.

I don't have time tonight to repost but If It were me I'd tap in to the output on the factory amp not at the radio. That way the factory subs and the rest of the speakers work right. I'm assuming your just putting some subs in but you'll still need that factory amp to control any other speakers.

So splice into the speaker wires after they have left the amp heading to the speakers rather than between the amp and the head unit? That makes sense, can you by chance tell me how to access the factory amp? As im sure that is no easy task.

I probably would but like I said dealer techs don't really get much aftermarket experience and I don't have any audio add on in any of mine. If I were you I'd probably talk to someone with more audio experience, I usually just stick to telling people the stuff I know for sure. Any way to get to the amp It's not too hard. First you need to pull off the bezel around the radio no screws just plugs in, then pull out cupholders no screws either, open console compartment pull everything out and if there is a mat in the bottom remove that too. Should be 4 bolts remove those. Where you removed the cupholder should be another couple of bolts . I think it pulls right out after that. Watch not to pull too hard you'll have to disconnect wires before yanking all the way. Now that I'm thinking you may need to remove the screws at the top of the compartment just under the door. Have fun, good luck. If you go after the amp I did't give you those pin numbers but you already know those wire colors right.
