Can I expect a 2 mpg increase by adding a flormaster system and then a K+N filter or perhaps a cold air intake kit?

expect a slight decrease in economy with flowmaster, for an intake it will make up for the Flowmaster and help a bit.

Neither are worth the money if all you're looking for is mileage.

 

I observed the following on my 2006:

 

stock - 18-19 MPG highway

added AEM brute force intake - no change in mileage

then added Corsa cat-back - 0.5-1 MPG increase

 

Can't say it was all the Corsa or a combination of the exhaust and intake as I already had the intake on when I added the Corsa.

 

For me I love the sound and look which is why I did it. Seems to pull a little better, but without a dyno can't quote benefits.

On my 07NBS 5.3 Sierra, the K&N replacement filter actually caused a 2mpg DECREASE in mpg. Upon further examination, I have come to the conclusion that the air box design on the Sierra is such that the K&N fits in "up-side-down". As the K&Ns ARE directional with respect to flow, I am assuming that, since it had to be installed "up-side-down" that it actually caused a performance decrement.

 

SO, to answer your question, no, the K&N will hurt to the tune of about 1-2mpg, based on my direct experience. I pulled it out after 1 tank of gas --- it was THAT noticable on performance DECREMENT and mpg.

 

Now, my experience on Flowmasters has been mixed. On a F__d F150 (5.4l) I owned in a previous life, it gave me a 1-2 mpg increase. On an F250SD (5.4l) the Flowmaster gave me no noticable improvement in gas mileage, though it didn't DECREASE it either.

 

Compared with "brand F" mufflers, it appears the NBS factory mufflers run pretty open, i.e. not as restrictive as the F__ds.

 

I have no specific experience with Flowmasters on GMs wrt gas mileage. My guess would be that, with the combination of a FM and K&N filter cartridge, you will, either, break even, or actually go down a bit in mpg, with the K&N being the bigger culprit.

 

Now, I have a GMPP CAI that gave me approximately a 1mpg increase. I would recommend a CAI rather than just the K&N filter. Some like GMPP, others prefer Volante, and still others like the K&N CAIs. Either way, a whole CAI system, I would guess, will help you out on the mpg side over the filter.

CAI's are no help to fuel economy, big myth. More Air=More Fuel Added by computer to correct mixture, giving you either equal or less mpg. You get somewhat better performance, a better looking tube, and a louder engine.

      I found an odor eliminator spray that neutralizes unwanted smells pretty well. Using it with the car's AC running helps to distribute it evenly around the cabin.

      He does, actually. In another unrelated video he mentions the president called him in the middle of the night to relay some information on a cause (religious based) that he's invested in. Glenn expressed concern that another leftist administration could wield too much power with some procedure the Pentagon was using, classifying certain religions a certain way. Being that he is LDS (Latter Day Saints), he gets hate all the time from ALL over the political spectrum, so he's invested in this. Trump called him back at 5AM to tell him he had made some changes to that classification.   So, yes, they are and have been in contact regularly since the start of the administration. Glenn, of course, always asks his permission before discussing anything on the air.   I already spent an hour or more just searching for these videos. I may have my numbers wrong - I'm not a numbers guy. It may have been a MILLION barrels, not 1.5. The point is, our President, by his actions, gives a crap about America, and US - this is completely OPPOSITE the actions of the prior administration who projected hatred for anyone who wasn't following the left's edicts in lock-step.   Remember, they called January 6th an "Insurrection", when there were ZERO weapons among the crowd, undercover FBI agents agitating the crowd, along with paid leftists acting as aggressors, egging the crowd on in an attempt to whip everyone into a frenzy. It's all been proven.  Pelosi refused Trumps request for more National Guard troops. This smells 100% like an inside job for those with critical thinking skills. Only a handful of guys in the crowd got wrapped up in that, thankfully, but EVERYONE was searched out based on cell phone data, and charges were brought against many. And 6 or so people were locked up and left in solitary confinement for YEARS with ZERO due process!! If you give the slightest crap about our Nation, REGARDLESS of your political leanings, this should frighten you to your core. This is what men suffered, bled, fought, and died against 250 years ago!   This has gone FAR BEYOND left vs. right. This is a  threat to America, and our way of life. This is PRECISELY why Trump, a BILLIONAIRE who could have chosen to take Melania and sit on some tropical island that he could afford to buy himself and RELAX, instead chose to run for office, get hate from literally every corner of the media, get ATTEMPTS on his LIFE constantly, and begin to repair some of the severe damage that's been done to this Great Nation.   I don't know why I bother wasting my precious time here. Everyone has their minds made up. They won't realize we all were correct until it's too late ... after they elect another tyrant that hates America to office (Obama), or another puppet whose administration is secretly running the show behind the scenes (Biden).
