Tuners, Programmers Or Chips...which Is Better?

I've been thinking about my next mod to increase performance. With all the wonderful info here on this board I can't make up my mind. I like the idea of having a controller at hand where I can change profiles on the fly as opposed to a one time tune/chip. I really like the Edge Evolution but as luck would have it, it doesn't support my '05 Silverado. Dang!

So, let's hear some opinions as to why you chose what you chose. THanks.

I have the Edge Evo, it's OK, but it's going up for sale just as soon as Allen Nelson returns my call and gets me set-up with my Nelson tune.

+1 for a custom tune.

Custom tunes are the best. But if you want a prorammers Hypertech's new max energy blows everything else out of the water. I have a Superchips Max Micro Tuner, it works for what I need it for (shift points, press, rev limit, tire size ajustment), but doesn't give you the power the max energy does.

So far, a tune is leading the pack. With a tune, however, would I be able to return to factory default anytime? Also, would I have to taylor the tune to my driving style before getting one?

From what I've learned, so far, about programmers, they give you the ability to adjust things like shift points, tire size, etc. Some can even show you specific data like trans temp, 0-60 times, etc. Decisions, decision.

Thanks for the replies, guys. Keep 'em coming.

If i were to get a programer it would be the edge evo....great options on it and able to do performance tests. I was debating on getting one but now with the tcm combined with the tune I enjoy it very much. I have my stock computer and tcm incase I need to go to the dealer.
