I looked under the truck and where the tranny and T case bolt together there is a good leak and I can see red RTV. I havent broken it down yet, but I just figured there might be a seal or gasket to go between them.

Clear as mud?

MMMM yep clear as mud. If your talking about the 87 I can't remember what goes there but if it's not a gasket and looks like red rtv do not use rtv it's anarobic sealer.

Yeah it didnt look like it belonged there. I may just have to open it up then go to the parts store. It is the 87 though with the 700 R4.

GM's anerobic sealer is red and kind of looks like thin rtv. Other sources have different colors i think permetex has blue anerobic.

So is that something thats sold "over the counter" or direct from the GM house?
