How To Disable Park Assist

Hey, Newbie here!

 

I have an 08 GMC 2500 Crew Cab Diesel. I love this truck.

 

However, I have to hook up to a trailer at least 4 times a week, so I don't like pulling my hitch.

 

Is there a way to completly turn off the "park assist" to where is does not show up on the display? Or Disable it?

There is a button in between the power outlets on the dash to turn it off

Maybe you misunderstood my question.

 

I understand how to turn it off. But, I don't want "Park Assist Off" defaulting in the DIC everytime I start my vehicle.

 

Is there a way to have the DIC default to the odometer or something besides the "Park Assist Off" display?

I could be wrong, but I thought "Park Assist Off" went away after a few seconds (maybe 10 to 15?) and returned the DIC to whatever the previously displayed item was.
