Front Airdam Question

Recommended Posts

I think I read in the manual that you can remove the front airdam temporarily for more clearance, but need to reinstall it to get the proper air flow for engine cooling? Is their really a cooling issue if you remove it?

I know it's what's recommended in the manual, but I'd like some input from experience also.

Has anyone removed theirs permanently? pros/cons?

I've notice no change in engine temperature with the air dam off. Maybe hurts MPG a little bit, but I'll accept that trade-off.

Take it off, it looks A LOT better!

No mileage loss or noticeable difference other than I dont have to drive like I own a Ferrari or Corvette on speed bumps, driveways, or parking spots. Removing allows me to park over concrete parking stoppers intead of behind them. Its nice to stick out 1 foot less in crowded parking lots, its considerate and may eliminate an incidient.

I broke my in haft going threw a fresh snow bank in a parking lot. :dunno:

I ripped everything off. Looks way better with it off ! The truck looks more aggressive.

After seeing SNO garage pics, mine is going to be coming off shortly as well. I can just picture myself hitting something and ripping that thing off in the near future.

Just the info I was looking for, guys. Thanks.

I'm with you , Papa Pump...just not tomorrow or this week. It's too d**ned cold, although I shouldn't be such a wimp. I've already hit a snow bank in a parking lot. Luckily, nothing broke.

The air dam is pretty easy to take off. You don't even have to get under the truck, just the proper socket and one bolt on each side. Then once those are gone just push the dam towards the rear of the truck and it will come unhooked from the tabs.

When I took mine off I don't even know how half of those scratches and cuts got there, but not anymore.
