2004 Noises?

As usual the dealer has no answers for me, hopefully one of you will.

I took my 2004 Tahoe to the dealer complaining of yet another steering related clunk/vibration. It had some washers put on the front end in June and new tires in July but the issue never seemed to totally resolve. Dealer blamed it on an out of balance tire which was replaced and rebalanced by them. I thought the issue still was there but felt I would be perceived as the "critical female" so I let it drop. I rarely drive this truck and only when my husband travels with the car. My husband never said the noise was as bad until a week or so ago. I took it to the dealer and I shaft was found to be binding, dealer refused to fix under warranty as I aged out of my 36 months but since Tahoe had been in before and I have pull with New Truck manager they fixed but forced me to pay for a transmission flush and fixed a leking seal? I just wanted to get out of there so I agreed, paid the $300 and left. The issue is when I left there was a noise which sounded like the window was open , which it was not. There is a very airy sond near the underside of steering area. They checked the boot and say it is properly installed. After driving it for a week it almost sounds as if the steering (power) is involved, almost like when you oversteer, that sound you get but it's happening all the time. Steering does not seem affected but the noise is disturbing. The other thing that al of a sudden stopped working was the emergency brake. Somehow over the last week it began working again? Not sure if connected to repair of I shaft but does seem odd how it all of a sudden stopped working when I picked it up.

I'll answer my own question since you "guys" didn't.

I took the truck back and they discovered that some fitting that goes over the steering column had 1 bolt missing. WHen I explained the problem the service adviser looked at me like I was some dumb blond and said there was nothing wrong, so I left the first time and fortunately my salesman handled the second attempt to get it fixed.

DUH, is about all I can say. I will never use GM Goodwrench service again, I cannot risk my safety or the safety of my family.

This may be my last GM as well as once my father passes so does my discount as he was an employee.

GM Goodwrench service all depends on the dealer. I've lived a few places with terrible dealer service that I didn't trust. Where I live now the dealers are excellent. One of the local Chevrolet dealer gets Fords, Dodges, and Imports to fix because their reputation is so good. Fortunatly, I purchased my last 3 GM vehicles new and haven't needed any service yet. Try a different dealer, Tahoechick.
