camestoy Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 The dipstick tube for my transmission snapped in half! Where in the heck do I replace this thing? Am I going to have to go to the dealership!?
ws6_guy Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 probably, unless you can swipe one from a salvae yard or somewhere

Am I going to have to go to the dealership!? I have to ask. How did that happen? As stated above salvage yard or dealership. Or maybe you can check ebay or other place online.

I don't know how it happened. I just found it snapped in half and being held up only by the dipstick itself. It was only a matter of time before it all fell out. It's pretty tight against some other parts normally, so it must've just been stressed from flex and a crack developed. It's a strange thing though. I've checked all the normal online places for parts, and I can't even come close to finding this one.
ws6_guy Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 the broken half isn't still down the tube is it? sounds like some nosey kids or a careless mechanic

Shaners Posted January 24, 2008 Posted January 24, 2008 I've heard of this happening before... generally on plow trucks that are subjected to harsh conditions. The tubes just rot/break!
