Alternator/electric Fan Question

I have a 2004 Silverado with the 4.8 and mechanical fan. I was planning on running a DC control for the fans and they list on their website how much less it takes to run their fans, so I was wondering if I could still use my stock 105A alternator or should I get a bigger one? I was also wondering if the stock fan setup from an 05 will bolt right up. Thanks.

I would upgrade I believe they have a gm one from the snow plow package that is a bolt on, but you need the matching fan belt, it is longer. I think it is rated 145 amps check with dealer or www.gmpartsdirect.com

If your running ls1 or lt1 fans you should be ok.. If you are running the GM 05-up factory setup then you will need to upgrade..

An alternator produces apprx 40% of it's max amps at idle. So with the 105 amp you would be generating about 40 amps at idle. Not enough to run e fans, blower motor, wipers, radio, etc etc. You need a 140 amp upgrade to make this work like it should.
