97 Gmc With No Interior Lights

Not sure if anyone's had this problem before, but my interior lights won't come on when opening either door. They come on when I turn the thumb wheel up on the light switch. I've replaced both door jamb switches and headlight switch itself. I checked continuity from driver side door jamb switch wires to passenger side and all were ok execpt I couldn't find out where the tan wire on the driver side was going to. There are three wires, purple, black and tan on driver side and just black and purple on passenger side. None of these wires were hot when tested. This is bugging the crap out of me, so any advice would be highly appreciated!!

There is a button(i think) that makes it so your interior lights dont come on when you door is open. Should be by your light switches if you have it. Probably doesnt help, but thats all ive got.

I've replaced the headlight switch which has the dome override button on it, but pushing the button in or out doesn't do any good. I think tomorrow I'll try to trace down the tan wire coming from the driver door switch to see if it is shorted somewhere. Thanks for the advice anyway though!

I wish it was that simple. I've tried eveything I can think of. Last night I looked inside the driver door panel to see if there were any wires going to the door handles that would activate the dome light, but the handle has no wires going to it. Thanks anyway though!
