I am considering buying one of those HID kits on ebay, but from the looks of it, you have to drill out the factory headlight assembly, is this true?

You have to drill out the part that holds the bulb. This is not so bad because you can buy new ones of these or get them from a wreck.

The bad part is a lot of the HID kits on ebay are sh*t. And you never know who you're dealing with. I dealt with a guy on this forum and didn't get anything for 3 months after I paid, then ended up getting shipped what I didn't want (foolish 8000k purple teenage nonsense not the 4300k I wanted).

So, the kit is still collecting dust in my garage.

certain HID's are like Marko said teenage nonsence...I hate those d**n import cars with thos bright lights or any other vehicle for that matter with HID's they not only blind me but I think they are a hazzard to drivers

I bought a kit on ebay. Did not have to drill anything and it works great!

Drill???? I'm not sure putting the cheapest HIDs you can find in your truck is real smart, but it's yours.

McCullough 4300K (true white light) kit comes with a harness and relay, bullerproof. About $430

2300K in the fogs........

When i got my hids installed, the guy didn't drill anything out.

My instructions say to drill a 1" hole in the cap on the back of the headlight.

Note that all of you who have responded "no drilling" drive GMT900s. Zoomy and I have GMT800s.

I think SoCal Chris might be somebody to PM about HIDs, I remember him having a thread about them a year or so ago.

I am not sure about the 800 series but the 900 you do not, also I have a Zentec kit from ebay for 75 shipped and is nothing high remarks (5000k). As long as you readjust after they do not blind. My beam moved a bit once I put the hid in nut realign and they are fine.

i have hid's in my gmt800 and no drilling at all. it was all plug and play, got my headlights for $120 shiped

Amen brother. I think most of them are installed just to look cool, to me I think there gay looking.

I was at an intersection and a driver in a Grand AM high beamed me because of my lights, so I went in the other lane in front of his car and started high beaming his ass. Was really funny lol.

Drilling? The only thing you need to drill is to mount the ballast bracket under the hood. I bought my 6000K HID kits for $88.00 shipped from an ebay distributor and have had zero problems with the both of them. And the look better than any factory HID kits with no blue at all just solid white.
