Custom Grills

Last year I saw a truck (can't even remember what brand) that had a custom chrome grill that had a nice scene with horses on it at QH Congress in Columbus. It is the only custom grill I have ever seen (by custom I mean not the standard ones you can buy at many part stores). After searching hi and low for a company that would do this, I have come to the conclusion they must have had it custom machined. I want to kick myself for not snapping a picture of it when I saw it. Does anyone know of any place where you can get custom grills or have them machined by giving someone a design? Thanks.

Just about any CMC equipped machine shop could make anything you wanted out of metal if you provide them with a pattern to scan into the computer. Some have computer controlled water jet cutters that can even slice through thick steel. I'm sure a "one off" creation would be costly but it can certainly be done.

 

Cost effectiveness comes from mass production. Single items can cost as many times more than a production item because of all of the setup and design time. (time spent when the operator could be mass producing something)

 

I guess a lot depends on how bad you want one.
