2001 Rear View Mirror Calibration

My rear view mirror on my '01 says "cal" where the temp and compass is. Does anyone know how to calibrate it? I am traveling out of town and don't have my owners manual. Thanks

usually just drive around making a few turns (like in a parking lot) and it should calibrate itself

Mine does that most times I go out of town on a long trip. ;)

The GM procedure is to drive in a circle until it clears. It usually takes about 1.5 circles at least on my old Tahoe.

You didn't say where you are from or where you went. Once you get to your owners manual look up the compass variance. In North America I think there are 12 different magnetic zones and when you cross from one to the other you may need to tell the compass what zone you are in by pressing and holding the button till a zone number comes up and pressing till the correct zone comes up. Then you can do the driving in circles to find North.

Excellent point. Forgot about that detail. Pick the wrong zone and it wo't say CAL but directions will be off.
