Force The Tbc/bcm To Reset?

I just installed the fog lamp kit on my 04 Silverado 1500 ECSB. I guess I need to have the TBC reprogrammed to recognize the fog lamps, but I wanted to try something first.

One of the techs at the local Chevy dealer said to disconnect the battery for 30 min or so, this would force the control modules to reset, and possibly detect the presence of the fog lamp kit.

Is there a way to force the TBC to reset? The only thing I can think of is to short each pin to ground (common ground on the circuit board of the TBC) to drain off any stray electricity, resetting the TBC back to default.

I am thinking along the lines of the shorting pins on a computer BIOS, which clears any custom settings, forcing the BIOS back to factory defaults.

If it matters, the TBC P/N is 15136876, and then below that is 876876M243246Y0Y

why not just spend the money and get it programed ,there is no custom settings to reset.I wonder what a BCM costs?
