okay so i`m new here, and if this has been discussed before tell me were, and i apologize if i`m opening a pre-discussed topic. anyways i have a 98 pickup with the big rat underhood, i am considering more options for performance, i have many questions so bare with me, okay is this engine a 4 bolt main? what is the stock camshaft lift/duration/overlap? (considering a replacement) and are the stock cats gonna handle more? can i slot my tps for better throttle response? have picked a list of items that include headers (shorty stainless/ceramic coated) comp cam with new lifters, full roller rockers, higher performance gears and chain, larger throttle body and mass air flow sensor, and higher rate injectors, its kinda an overwhelming list (and expensive!!) but was wondering if anyone has gone this route, even if it was with another engine, kinda wanna know what works and what is just gonna empty my wallet only(: !!

 

(current mods include catback 4" exhaust, superchip ,custom air intake electric H20 pump and electric fans)

start with a custom tune and go from there.

with a custom tune do you recommend getting my truck ona dyno or just relaying info to the tunerguy, the nearest location isa 4 hour drive, plus how much better is it gonna be than the superchip programmer? (i know it itself is pretty generic, it pretty much covers all gm v8`s) thanks
