New Wheels And Tires Options

I'm thinking about getting new wheels when I have to get new tires and I like the Mickey Thompson Classic II design. I decided to do some Photoshop work and see what they'd look like on my truck with some larger diameter tires and here are the results. The first shot shows the truck as it is now, the second shows the new wheels and tires without leveling the truck, and the third shows the leveled truck with new wheels / tires. I think I'd like to keep the 16" diameter wheel but I'd like to get a wider wheel than stock if it will fit. I'm not sure how wide it will go but I was thinking about 10". Take a look and let me know what you think is possible with my truck. It's an 04 Z71 by the way. I'd appreciate any opinions / suggestions you have.

Thanks

Looks pretty good with the wheels and level. 16x10s will rub like a big dog when turning running 265-75-16s. Personally I'd run 16x8s with 265-75-16 (or 285-75-16)...

Yup.

And I like the wheels on my '01 :dunno:

I also think that the stock wheels off of an H3 would look pretty nice too. Those things are going CHEEEEEEP too.

From what I understand the truck comes with 16x8 OEM right? I was considering the 285-75-16s on 16x8 but was wondering if there's anything bigger that would fit but without having to put on a lift kit. Thanks for the comments.

The factory wheel you have on there is actually closer to a 16x7 if you measure it. Aftermarket 16x8s will be almost a full inch wider. 285s are about the biggest I've seen without lift. (that don't rub a lot) A 16x10 wheel will stick out a lot... good luck!

So, I guess by your busted boot and cv angles comments you're not overly happy with running the 10's. Other than those issues, do the fronts rub when you turn? Thanks for all the responses by the way.

I didn't post the pictures of the metal that I had to saw zaw off. And it still scrubs. 10 wide wheels look bad ass, but they are only practical on a more lifted truck. *PLUS* They have major offset too.

I just noticed what truck you are wanting to put these on. My wheels and my old tires came off the exact same truck. But they were 305/70/R16 Baja Claws and he had to do no cutting, only maxed keys. The reason for this is because of the shorter wheel base and the truck would bulldog more. So it would be easier for you to do this.

So, it seems like you're saying I might be able to put on bigger wheels and tires? I've looked around a lot on the forums but only seem to confuse myself. I think I'm going to stop by the local truck parts store tomorrow and see what they have to say. Thanks again for all the replies. I appreciate the help.

They will tell you what people on here are telling you. You can fit the 305/70 with 16x10 on a single cab 4x4.
