4 Different 5.3l Options.

I just check Chevy.com and looked at the options for the 08 Silverado and saw something intresting,

It stated 4 different 5.3L engines.

1 Iron block 5.3L with AFM

1 Aluminum block 5.3L with AFM

1 Iron block 5.3L with AFM flex fuel

1 Aluminum block 5.3L with AFM with flex fuel

now how do we know if we have the aluminum blocks or the iron blocks, can anyone help me?

And did they have the same block options for the 07 and how can you tell?

The block depends on your model. EC got iron block with Al spare wheel, CC got Al block with steel spare, and I'm not sure what the RC got. 2007 has 3 additional engines, gen III Al, iron, and flex fuel (for the classic).

I got a 07 New Body Style 5.3L with AFM EXT CAB

Did you check it?

Not yet to lazy, and to dark, truck is about 200 feet away.

But ya forgot Zembones said the color,

Black means irion and silver ( aluminum color ) means aluminum block.

you have your insurance card close by? Usually those have the VIN listed on it....or any registration paperwork you might have filed in a desk or something? Look up the motor code from the VIN

Im trying to figure this out, i looked at it but i dont know whats the option code is for what. It would have been simple if someone said the option code on the vin, but Zembones idea is better. Thanks for all your help guys.
