05 Bose Cd Changer Issue

Hi All,

I need some assistance from some more knowledgable people. At the beginning of January I had a stereo shop add an auxilary input adapter to the back of my stereo so I could hook up a mp3 player through a 3.5mm jack. It instantly didn't work, with the cd changer function suddenly not being recognized. The cd icon would flash on the stereo display. It did show that it had CDs in the changer but couldn't eject them either. They kept fiddling with it trying to make it all work and when it did, it only worked for an hour or so. They found out later that it wouldn't work because the part wouldnt work with my stock Bose with built-in 6 disc changer (opposed to single disk). They were going to order the "right" part but I gave up on them and had them pull everthing, it all seemed to be working again before I had them touch it. I wish I knew the exact brand/product they were using, but I can't remember anymore.

The stereo went back to working normally, radio, xm, cds, but after a few days the cd changer quit working (could still listen to FM/AM/XM thankfully). Sometimes it'd come back later in the day, sometimes it'd take a day or two for the cd function to work again. When it isn't working, you can press the cd eject button and an "Initializing..." message comes up on the display, but nothing else will happen. I have started to get into the dash myself now and saw that they stripped the wire (pinkish red on top left of connector) they needed to use and had soldered in a connecting wire I assume was needed for the auxilary adapter. I cut off the extra wire and retaped everything back up. I plugged the stereo back in and it automatically reset the cd changer and everything works again. Next day... the cd icon is flashing again and the cds can't be played. If I unhook the stereo and hook it back in while the truck is powered, it'll go back to working normally, but I can easily assume that it'll go bad again and quit working.

My big question to the stereo experts is... do you think its having issues because of the solder still on the wire and being spliced into, or do you think in some way it has caused damage to the internal electrical components of my stereo?

I'm looking just to get it all working again (don't want to invest more money into all this), it is really starting to drive me nuts. I can take pictures if anyone wants to see what any of this looks like as well. Thanks for the help.
