Whats The Reason For?

whats the reason why the denali and the maxx have that slot cut out in the bumper? Just curious

Allowing more air into the engine most likely. In the VortecMax case it would be for better cooling for towing. I think that bumper is also used if you order the snow plow prep package.

I wish they had it on all of them. I think it looks better

Not all Vmax's have the "High Flow" slotted bumpers. Only the NHT (4.10) equipped Vmax's have it. My Vmax is a 3.73 (non NHT) Vmax and it came with the std bumper. Thanks to a car wash incident, I now have a slotted bumper because the dealer ordered the wrong one...oh darn :chevy: I still have my original one with a tiny scratch in it stored in my garage attic.

Correct,Mine don't have the slot either because I don't have the "NHT" package.

hmm.. I dont see how larger rear gears require a slotted bumper... but atleast thats a quick visual to tell if a trucks got the 4.10s

Well it's not the 4.10s themselves that benefit from the extra cooling, but rather the engine and transmission. Since the NHT package increases towing capacity, it also adds the slotted bumper for increased cooling (the logic being that increased towing = increased temperatures).

I'll add something else to this....The "VMax" trucks with the "NHT" package also have different cooling fan motors than those without.
