Kania2K1's sig say hes got clear corners and taillights.  Could someone explain?  I know the covers are clear but dont the bulbs have to be amber?

depends on the type.. there are some the ricers use that are clear except spots where the lights are and those have red patches so to speak(altezza i think the name is?). personallu clear corners are gerenally ugly/over priced   depends on your paint i suppose

Illegal??? Depends on where you are.  And how are they dangerous?  If they're so dangerous, I really doubt they'd be DOT approved to be standard on the new Lightning, the Lexus RS400 (or whatever it is) and about a half dozen other new rides from across the other ocean.

I think the solid clear tail lights look the best with white, light blue or silver paint.  Kind of blends in.  I'm thinking about getting some of the clear front corner lenses for my truck.  The APC brand says they are DOT approved.  I'm pretty sure you use an amber bulb since the orange reflector is not there.

Ok, so I assume from the responses that what it means is that the lenses on all lights are just that - CLEAR, right? and that amber bulbs are used again I assume because turn signals have to be amber color? Its just a style/looks thing... Sorry to sound so stupid, just wanted to know...

See what you mean Tom, it looks nice on the solid red...mines the two tone white/pewter but every time I look at the truck I see those orange reflectors...just looks a little out of place... maybe I'm being too picky for a new guy...

Not all of the clear lens are DOT approved. I f they aren't you are subject to getting a traffic ticket

I think Tom is really on to something here. Newbie I was looking at my truck just yesterday and also thinking how distracting those orange corners lenses looked. I may have to go with the clear lenses. I can see in my  mind what it looks like and boy is it pretty.

Truckin' Magazine did a piece on the blinker lenses a few years ago for my generation truck. They looked really good. Of course, I'm too friggin' cheap to do it myself.

That could cut into beer money!

You should be able to get signal lenses for around ?-60 and the tail light lenses are going to be a little over ? per set.

You can also tell if they are legal by looking at them because they should have the DOT code toward the bottom of the lense itself.

Thanks Frank....saw a truck (F$rd) today with clear....it did clean up the looks... but when he put his signal on it appeared that there were still colored reflectors underneath not a colored bulb......actually, when I say clear they werent TOTALLY clear, they were kind of opaque...sort of like glass block...
