Trans Temp Gauge

Anyone recommend a good trans temp gauge? Also, how difficult would it be to hook up? I've seen the pillar pods to mount the gauge but what options are there to either connect it to the trans or a dedicated terminal under the dash?

Autometer, and prolly the best place is the pan, but you might be able to plug and play it im not sure with yoru truck since the 2500 does have it.

the truck should already be wired with the sensor....Escalades and the HD's have a tranny temp guage built into the cluster along with the stock guages. There are a few things you can do.

1. Get a replacement guage cluster for an Escalade or HD and swap it out with yours

2. Get an aftermarked OBDII plug in guage like the ScanGuageII or Interceptor that just plugs into the OBDII port under the dash and they can do a lot of other things too, not just tranny temp.

3. Wire up an aftermarket guage and sensor.

4. Do a search from the top of this forum for "trans temp guage"

I put a cluster from an SS in mine, it has white faced guages and includes the tranny temperature guage.

It's a real pity that they don't sell a replacement Gauge that you can just slip into your existing gauge pack. Just seems like such a waste to me to have to replace your WHOLE cluster just to have the trans temp... I'm surprised no aftermarket company has come out with anything yet that fits in that pod are of the stock cluster.

Oh well...I've been on the fence with that for a while and could never come to terms with purchasing one. Maybe someday.

I replaced mine when it had about 600 miles on it. Think the new guage was $200-$250. More than I wanted to spend, but since I knew I would have the truck a long time, a factory looking option was what I wanted. And the white face guages look good with my white truck.

It'd be more of a PITB than just running a seperate guage. the stock cluster isn't just seperate guages screwed into the dash piece and wired up, it is a large integrated circuit board with the front plastic molded/fused on

I realize that but, it wouldn't it be nice if there was someway to take that empty spot on all our stock clusters and weasel in that trans temp gauge. I also realize that the one piece cluster is not something easily separated either.

Look up Scangauge. Its awesome! A buddy of mine liked mine so much he bought one for himself. Tells a lot more info than tranny temp too. MPG, Air/Fuel ratio, RPM, Engine temp, Throttle position, Intake air temperature, Miles till Empty, and it reads and clears Trouble Codes... Well worth the 159 bucks

any obdii scanner with live data should be able to display any gauge on you vehicle. I have seen them on ebay for as low as 39.00 plus you will get a odbii scanner as well that can clear codes.

I have a AeroForce gauge in my truck.....it's one of those 2inch round gauges that sits on the a-pillar. Like other scan gauges, it will display more than just the tranny temp....speed, rpm, all kinds of diagnostic things. It will even time your 1/4 mile. ;)
