Transmission Noise On My 08 Gmc

Ok maby someone can help me out here. I just bought a 2008 GMC Sierra 1500 SLE2 NFL package. When the truck shifts from 2nd to 3rd it almost sounds like and feels like a ZIP noise under my feet. This noise and feeling is easier to feel when shifting at slower speeds in my neighborhood, but it only happens from 2nd to 3rd gear, it doesnt jerk or feel like it is slipping and the other gears shift fine. It is very hard to hear from the passenger side unless you know what to listen for and when. This is not the clunk noise that most GM and Chevy owners hear from the transmission. The truck has 610 Miles on it. Any input would be helpful. Thanks

To be honest I thought I was just hearing things also. I first heard that sound with around 100 miles on it. It now has 450 miles, still kind of makes the same noise at the same low speeds from 2nd to 3rd. I'm taking the truck to the dealer in the morning for them to fix the oil leak that I found this morning and will tell them about it then.

Maybe this is the noise I am hearing too, I had a really hard time describing how it sounded. Dealer is going to check it out on Wednesday, along with a few other things

The best I could describe the sound would be the sound of fluid transferring around in the transmission. To me I don't think I should be hearing any noise coming from the transmission. Maybe this is a new feature of the 08'.

Thats also what it sounds like only from 2nd to 3rd

If that's the same noise, it's been happening before the nbs. I've heard GM trucks, including mine on up to 2006 making that noise on shifts. Weird sound.

After going to the dealer this morning for an oil leak with 500 miles on the truck, let me tell you how funny it is that I was not able to reproduce the sound for the lead tech on a test drive. Even after describing all symptoms above they said they've never had any reports for this. So I was basically told to record any and all condtions of and or around the truck the next time it makes the sound. I'm sure it will be back in the shop within a month to refix the oil leak they just fixed. Until then I almost want to keep a sound recorder in the truck cause I know I'll hear it with no one elese around.

What did they do to try to fix your oil leak?

They had me in and out in 3.5 hrs after changing the oil pan gasket. After seeing the other post on oil leaks, I'll be keeping an eye on this over the next week. 1 dop and its going right back. They at least told me after words "This won't count as your 1 free oil change". I said thanks and just walked out shaking my head.

Yep, you'll be going back, mark my words. It was NOT your oil pan leaking. Tell them it's the CPS o-ring, rear main and/or the oil cooler line manifold gasket (only if you have the 6.0, otherwise you don't have oil cooler lines).

The tech did mention the rear main and also the galley plug, which i am unfamiliar with. After it went back they were pretty quick to come back and say it was the pan.

So i guess I can assume this is a normal unexplained noise in the transmission, since it seems like others can hear the same sound or some type of noise from when shifting from 2nd to 3rd??
