Slight Transmission Slip

I have a 96 silverado 350 with the 4L60E tranny. Lately it has had a slight slip from one to two. I was told it could be the valve body by a friend, which is a common problem, but I dont want to go buy a part that costs 400 bucks on just a hunch. I changed fluid and it seems to shift better. Is this a common problem when the valve body goes out? Also, my check engine light has a tranmission code on it now too, but it only says trans. system malfunction. Thanks for your help.

  Ha!! So GM Customer service, ive already been talking with someone on your email team and there is nothing they can do. So pretty consistent with everyone else’s experience- you can do NOTHING.. worthless emails. Sure glad i have 4 GM cars on our family cuz now its clear you dont care.. Sad and pathetic.
