What Do You Think Of This Trade? '93 Sierra And '00 Silverado

Here is the scoop, come across a guy selling a truck and talked to him and he's looking to downsize a bit but keep a truck, he mentioned a deal of my truck plus I give him $2000 for the trade

My truck

'93 GMC Sierra 1500 4x4

Extended cab

Base model with only A/C

345,000KMs (207,000 miles)

5.7L 350 with auto

Possibly sold with topper

In good shape, typical rust but patched up and runs like a top

His truck

'00 Chev Silverado 2500HD 2WD

Extended cab I think long box

Has leather and A/C, no other options

175,000KMs (105,000miles)

6.0L auto

Have no idea of the shape it's in right now. I'd imagine a bit rough around the edges but it's a truck and I'm not a p**** so I'll put my own dents/scrapes into it later anyway

What do you think? His is kindof an odd ball being a 3/4 tonne, 2WD and no options? But I've heard mixed reviews on the 6.0L and stepping down to a 2WD even 7 years newer I'm a little put off on that... but deal wise what does everyone think?

For me personnally, don't sound right.....

I would compare book values of each truck.

However, you are gaining a newer truck with far less mileage, but loosing 4x4. How much do you use the 4x4??

It doesn't seem to sound right with me either which is bugging me. Someone also told me "Also, if it's got the 6.0 it should be a 2500LD...the '00 2500 HD trucks were still OBS with the 5.7 350 and the 2500HDs w/ the 6.0 came about in '01, IIRC"

So is this guy trying to pull a fast one over me or something? And why would you get A/C and leather but no power options??? I like the thought of a newer truck and way less KMs but this truck strikes me as a bit of an anchor in that no one really wants a 3/4 tonne 2WD, let alone a base model one. And if gas prices keep going up like they say that 6L might be a bad choice for resale (although a TBI 350 isn't probably much if any better)

So not sure. I'm getting a very wide range of comments though, some people can't see past the high miles on my old truck and figure it's going to go any day now... the way it runs I think it's got quite a few years left in it before I retire it to strickly farm use

Its possible that he could have gotten a barebones truck and then added the leather later. Or it could be aftermarket leather, who knows? My suburban didn't come with leather or a dvd player, but I added them myself. And I would DEFINITELY have it inspected and get a full carfax report before deciding to trade. And I know it doesn't happen every day, but people still do "number jobs". That is when then have a wrecked or salvage vehicle and pull the vin off of it and transplant it to a stolen vehicle of the same make and model, then try to pass off the stolen vehicle as the "rebuilt wreck". Most times it gets discovered because the theif ended up stealing a truck with different options or maybe it wasn't even the correct year. It would be like looking at an 88 chevy for sale and the truck has a 350vortec under the hood and a 98 style dashboard, but trying to pass the truck off as an 88. Paperwork says the truck is an 88 blu chevy, vin on dash matches paperwork, but its a gray truck that looks like a 98, wtf? How stupid can you be? A good mechanic can look for other vins on the engine and frame to verify if they match.

Did You buy your truck new or very low miles? You've been taking care of her, right? Oil, filters, tires, suspension parts. You know what you have, you don't with the other.
