Coolings Fans Not Working

Yea, I know, this is not a "truck".

But......there are a lot of knowledgeable people here.

 

Short version of the story.

 

'98 Lumina LTZ w/3.8

The cooling fans don't come on.

Pulled the relay and shorted the pins.

The fans work.

Turn on the A/C and no fans.

Had someone with a big $$$ computer (MAC tools) check it out.

It can turn on the fans.

It can read the temp sensor OK.

 

I followed the GM service manual and it reports to replace the PCM.

I pulled the PCM out and checked for the obvious.

Looks OK.

Plugged the 2 connectors back in.

 

Still no fans.

 

Went looking for a PCM on the internet.

Anywhere from $35 to $100.

I did write down all of the info off of the PCM.

I have no clue as to what is important when buying one.

Do I really need a PCM?
