I would do the chrome handles, I think the mirror caps will make it too chromish IMO.

Yeah I am wary of over-chroming the truck. I was thinking of either the chrome, or the lower chrome and black painted upper with or without the lower chrome. I'll have to do some Photoshopping to decide, I think.

I added door handle covers but not sure of the brand. I think it adds a touch of flash and I'm very happy with them.

I'm considering adding some extra chrome touches to my truck, going for the black & chrome theme. I'm considering these two items:

Door Handle Covers

Mirror Covers

Does anybody else have these installed? How is the fitment and the quality? Any close up shots would be appreciated. Thanks!

I'm not a big fan of stick-on chrome. I would suggest going for the solid metal chromed door handles, available direct from GM. You can find accessories on the GMC.com website. They would go nicely with the billet bowtie.

I'm not sure the mirror appliques would suit your truck.

there is absolutly nothing wrong with these.

make sure you buy some adhesion promoter and let it sit for about 10 min. then use a heat gun hold it about 4 in away and get it really nice and hot, then heat the 3m tape on the covers and press really hard, when i press them on the door metal will bend in a lil, and if you want to make sure they stay on after you stick them on heat the outside up for a couple seconds and press on again.

the mirror covers are extremly easy to install, you just line them up and press on they put themselves into place. there are 5 big strips of 3m tape to hold them on so you really dont have to worry about them coming off...

I thought about getting the real replacement handles but wasn't sure about the cost or the difficulty of installation. These covers have the benefit for being inexpensive and easy to install. I was worried, however, about how they'd feel, since the door handles are a somewhat frequently used part of the truck. Do you or does anyone else have a link to the GM replacement handles, and any idea about how difficult those are to install?

I bought GM OEM chrome handles from http://gmaccessoriesstore.com and they were not much different in price from a set of covers.

Wow, that's not as bad as I thought it'd be. How is installation done, though? This seems like something the dealer would have to do.

Well, the beauty is you only have two of them on an extended cab! I have changed out door handles on an 01 and it really isn't that hard - if the dealer knows what they are doing it shud not take them more than an hour-ish, maybe an hour and a half for both....

Hmm..any estimate as to the cost for them to install them?

Best thing to do would be to call the dealer and ask. I would not charge you more than a six pack of beer  (and payment ONLY after the job was done!!) but the dealer probably will charge you more than that.

Since this is a dealer-installed accessory, they oughta be able to tell you straight away. And since the handles themselves are only about 60 bucks a pair, it can't be that much. Call the dealer and then let us know - I may have to adjust my rates!!! :D
