Tpms On 2007 Silverado

Does anyone have any experience with the TPMS on the 2007 and newer Silverado? I am thinking about upgrading the wheels and tires but I'm not sure how to reprogram the sensors with the new wheels. I heard they have to be reprogrammed when replaced or even rotated.

Resetting the TPMS system is simple. However, if you get tires that require a different PSI, then you will need to have a dealer recalibrate the module for a new nominal pressure. Otherwise your truck will "think" you are not running the proper pressure in the tires. i.e. My stock tires were set for 35 PSI with a range of +/- 10 PSI or 25-45 PSI. When I put my new tires on, the rcommended PSI is 45 PSI, so I would get a "check tire pressure" warning on my DIC whenever my tires would be above 45 PSI. MY dealer recalibrated my system for $65 with a Tech-II scanner. The reset procedure that you can do yourself simply resets the tire pressure sensor positions when you rotate your tires.

Hope this helps.

I get to find out tomorrow, I will let you know. I bought GM sensors for my new wheels and everything goes on tomorrow

EDIT: There you have it, someone who knows! Vmax must have been posting at the same time! LOL

Relearning the TPMS is easy, I just did it on mine. I don't have the DIC(yet), so this is the procedure without it.

Turn the key to the run position, push the trip meter button until you get to the relearn tire position screen, then hold the button down until it says tire learning active, your horn will give two short chirps.

You HAVE to start with the front left tire, add or release air from the tire until you hear a single chirp from the horn, then proceed to the front right, rear right and finally the rear left in that order, you will hear a single short horn chirp each time the tire position is relearned, then you will hear two short chirps when tha last one is learned.

I was playing with mine at work and got it all screwed up :P (didn't know you had to do it in a certain order, so it took about three tries of activating the relearn procedure then changing the pressure in the front right tire for it to recognize it.
