20" Wheel Upgrade

Recommended Posts

Posted

I have a 2007 NBS GMC Sierra crew cab with the 17" wheels. I am considering upgrading to some 20" wheels and was wondering if anyone has done this and If so how did it affect your mileage?

Thanks.

I am running with the 5.3 and 3.73 gears

I did just the opposite. Dumped my 20's for 18's. I have no idea how it affected my mileage. But it sure as hell affected my impression of my truck.

I hated the 20" wheels!!! Low-pro Badyear tires rode like dogshiite and the wheels looked like huge flowers. Now my trucks looks like a 4x4 truck SHOULD look.

LMFAO!! Dude that's hilarious. To answer your original question about 2MPG. I lost about 2.5MPG on my truck with the same engine and 22" wheels/55 series rubber, and theyre pretty heavy.

you could spend a little on some centerlines that weigh pretty light, about 26-28 lbs for a 20-22"... thats my plan.

good plan

I went from the factory 17" to 20" only diffrance I noticed in milage was a decrease in 1 mpg. the ride of the factory 17s was great after the 20s got put on you could feel a little more road but still an impressive smoothness for a truck.

OK, you asked for it....

With those wheels and tires...you NEED stickers for anyone to know it's a 4x4.

No, I prefer a clean knobbie. :rollin:

I don't drive in Mpls much either. :)

Actually, it snowed today, got about 6 inches of slush. I didn't TC or ST off though so it wasn't much fun.

Yeah it has been 26-31 here for about a week...kinda sunny, but not enough of ANYTHING to do any serious melting, or cold enough so I can diagnose the "mystery Clunk"...it sucks, I wish it would just get warm already!!
