My '07 Gmc Is Going Under The Wrench

Went in for a oil change and I knew I had a small oil leak because of drops on my floor, so I told them to see if they can find where it's coming from. I was told that there is gasket between the engine and transmission that needs to be replaced.

I asked if it was the rear main or the crankshaft position sensor and was told no, and that thet would need to have my truck at least 8 hrs for the repair. So I'm guessing that the transmission will have to removed for this???

A little frustrating, I consider this a invasive procedure with a new truck, I wonderr what else will happen after they get done messing around with the tranny.

And now the brakes are sqealing, very annoying.

I' done venting now!!

Not really any such thing as a gasket between the engine and transmission. It has to be a rear main seal. Unfortunately there was a problem with some of them. If so, the repair isn't too invasive. A good tech will have it done in no time. The transmission will have to come out but it sounds a lot worse than it is.

You could always get another dealer's opinion if you aren't sure about the one you went to.

I had mine done by my local service department (which I consider inept) and even they pulled it off with no problems. Haven't noticed a single difference except for the lack of oil on the ground.

Seems like gm's quality has went down a bit. Or a faulty set of seals. At-least it's under warranty...

They all have... the more crap they put into the vehicles, the more things to go wrong, no matter the extent of Q/C... We all need to get used to this, with all the makers.

Yea I've seen more new Tundras having their tranny's removed more and more lately. And most these trucks have less than 5000 miles on them.

Because GM knows better than toyota, they don't actually give you the 400hp you paid for. Unlike Toyota which as we found out what happens when you get a retardedly fast stock rig.

LOL. It's a nice engine, but they need to put a better transmission behind it. I must say though, transmissions are a pain in the ass to remove. I have done one my dakota, and it was painful.

Hoping to get that gm soon though. Just need the funds!
