Hey guy's and gal's. How about introducing yourselves before jumping on here and asking questions. I'll admit, I did it to, and no one replied to my posts until I formally introduced myself. I'm not trying to be sh*tty, just trying to help.

Can I add....

Please be descriptive when filling in the "Topic Title" AND "Topic Description".

Generally, if all it has is "Need Help". I personally skip it.

There are a lot of knowledgeable people here. Be considerate of their time when posting the "Topics".

Oh yea.....Welcome

I'd like to add...

We love having new people in here! I also agree with the thread starter that it is a good idea to introduce yourself if you want to be paid attention to.

Without newbies, the site would get really dull.

Welcome aboard!

Forgive my poor forum ettiquette. My name's Ron and I've been a lifelong GM fan. All started in 1980 when my father bought a 75 chevy p/u (350cid, heavy half) and restored it - it was a strip mining truck in its first go at life and showed it. They used that truck to un-stuck stuck mining equipment. We built a log cabin on a hilltop in southwestern PA - a small town called Eighty-Four - with the aid of that old mare. Had to give it a new body again in 1990 and he finally sold it in 2002. It never once failed to start.

In high school I restored a 1973 Jeep CJ5 that I bought for $250. I did it ground-off, replacing every seal, bearing, and most of the nuts and bolts even. It was a fantastic experience and was tough to part with it upon getting my job out of college. I tossed a 350 in it also, which at the time - 1991ish, wasn't quite as common as it is these days.

My first pickup was a 2000 Sierra Ext cab Z71. Loved it, and it was still solid the day I traded it in on my 2007 a year ago. I've tossed a few pics in the "line-X" thread that's running now of the current ride.

Anyway, professionally, I am an engineer in the auto and aerospace industry. Specifically I mostly write software for, design controls systems for, and commission climatic and aeroacoustic wind tunnels and other automotive test chambers, but am currently working a jet engine test chamber on an air base in northern Japan - to which I will be travelling on Sunday for a week. I'm also working 2 wind tunnels for a German automaker in Munich, to which I'll be travelling next weekend for 3 weeks. Air miles anyone??

I moved to Michigan 11 years ago and will probably be here for a long time to come - when I'm in the country anyway. I've been viewing this forum for a long time, but only recently decided to sign up. There's a ton of great information/experience to be had here.

Thanks!

I've never technically done the "newbie checking in" thing either...so here goes.

Hi, my names Eric and I'm a physics major with an emphasis on egineering and astronomy. I drive an '02 chevy silverado z71, which replaced a '99 chevy z71 (tranny blew 4 days before I headed back to school), which replaced a '88 gmc cheyenne.

Not to be a party crasher or anything, but I'll chim in that it really works better if people keep the non-vehicle posts out of the "general discussion" forums. For example, I've been noticing lately that people are posting things in the "Fullsize Truck & SUV" forum that would probably be better left to the "Member's Lounge" forums.

Well, been on here for 5 years and never really did the intro thing myself, I'll try to keep it short. I'm an Air Quality Control Systems Engineer (say that five times fast) for a public utility. In short, I'm responsible for ensuring that our power plants have the proper controls / equipment in place (and operating correctly) to be compliant with all federal and state regulations. I do a lot of conceptual systems design and project planning, among other things. Went to school up to Michigan Tech (mechanical engineering) and currently pursuing a Masters at Michigan State (pretty interesting while working 40+ a week). Anyway, my current truck is my second. My first truck was a '95 C1500, was dubbed the "green machine". That 'ol gal got me though 4 U.P. winters, only got it stuck 2 times (well, only two times where I was stuck enough to where someone had to yank me out).

Windmaker, sound like you've got a pretty interesting career. Wish I could get some international travel in, I stay within the states. Anyway, welcome to the "club".

Oh crap I never did the whole newbie intro either and here the whole time I was thinking you guys didn't reply to my threads at first because you guys were D I C K S...lol!

Anyway, I am Ivan, 21, live in El Paso TX, I own my own trucking company, and I love alcohol...wait no I mean I enjoy a drink every now and then.

Oh and by far the best thing I have learned from this forum is this.

"Arguing online is like participating in the special Olympics, even if you win you are still retarded..."

I should have done this a long time ago too!

My name is Ed, I own a very nice '07 GMC 1500 crew cab, the wife owns a Toyota Rav4 and I actually have a vintage Ford Mustang in the garage too. 2 out of 3 american cars aren't bad

To all newbies...If you have special needs, let us know so we can accommodate you :banghead:

Way to go Fred! Of course the alcoholic comment was a joke. I've managed to dodge that little issue in life!
