Exhaust Mods

I am new to the great site here. Thanks in advance. I have a 2008 1500 crew cab 4x4 5.3L silverado on order from the factory. I want to keep my mods to a minimum at first, but one thing I do want to do is exhaust mods. Thoughts I have are SI/DO CAT BACK sys, and possibly an aftermarket CAT. Looks and sound are on my mind but more inportant is not to lose any performance (low end I have heard). I am concerned with California emissions and warranty issues. Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks very much.

if your from CA... DON'T even think of messing with your cats. they flow well enough stock for what you have. check with your dealer, you can get a nice CAI and cat back system from GMPP and still maintain warranty and CA emissions. the two combined should do good for now with a nice increase with out lousing low end..

good luck

Cat-backs shouldn't mess with a factory warranty. Definately don't touch the cats though.

If you want to keep it simple, just replace the muffler only, and perhaps a new tip. A full cat-back is a nice mod, but way more expensive. Cost vs. performance just isn't going to be there. You know, if that's a priority for ya.

Otherwise, just do some searching on the forum and you'll fnid tons of info regarding exhaust systems.

With todays laws or whatnot those "high-flow cats on the market" arnt a big jump in the power department over your factory cats, and from experience if you want duals, true duals are they way to go.
