Abs Light Is Always On

My dad has a 2000 silverado and the ABS light will not go out. It was in for the service concerning the ABS wheel speed sensor about a year ago, and it was never fixed. It was in the shop for a total of 30min. and they siad there was a problem elswere. I'm no tech but pretty good with a wrench so I followed the service bullitin and took out and cleaned the passenger side and replaced the drivers side. It took me 3 hr. for both. So I'm asking do I have to get a code cleared or is there something else wrong?
