Crew Cab Floors

When did the floor space in the under the 40/60 back seat open up. I noticed in the 2007-08 models there is nothing on the floor such as brackets and such to get in the way of cargo that you don't want on the seats. Interior floorspace is important to me due my medical equipment that I often carry. I have other questions about the 2500's so please be patient as I am becoming a convert from the blue oval. What year did they change the bench supports and does it really matter? Thank-you, Dan

In the NBS crew cabs (07-08) the rear seats fold UP giving you the floor space you saw. Pre NBS crew cabs the seat bottom folds FORWARD and then the seat back folds DOWN leaving a big flat area, but it is ~foot above the floor. My dogs loved that design, but I didn't because you had to lift everything up.

All of the extended cabs (00-08) the rear seats fold UP like the NBS crew cabs, although the jack and brackets get in the way on the 00-07 classic body style. NBS floor area is pretty much open, but the jack is still a little in the way.

This is the place to ask your questions!

I like my fold down seats better because it puts the stuff at the perfect reach height for me, plus it seems like there is more room that way (width especially), but I am sure there is a good reason why they changed it.

I drove by a local Chevy dealer and there was a used 2005 2500HD extcab. sitting on the lot wanting to be test driven. Maybe this weekend. Good time to check the floor space with the seat up. Anything I should know about this truck? Maybe a little searching will this all knowing site will help also. Thx

The 05 extended cab floor space is significantly less than in the 07-08 crew cab. The rear seat is full width, and folds up leaving a somewhat flat floor, but there are brackets at each end of the seat, and the access is a little more awkward than a crew cab.

FROM WHAT I HAVE SEEN THERE IS MORE ROOM IN THE 07-08 CC SO YOU ARE CORRECT IN THAT. WHEN I TAKE A LOOK THIS WEEKEND I MIGHT HAVE MORE ANSWERS TO MY LITTLE QUESTIONS. THE SUSPENSE IS MOUNTING. IT LOOKS LIKE A NICE TRUCK. WE'LL SEE. WHO KNOWS, MAYBE A USED CC MIGHT POP UP ON AUTOTRADER. THX DAN

Well, I test drove the truck and was a nice ride. What was really cool was how my test drive was cut short due to what little gas there was in it. Good times. I thought the back seat would fold forward instead of the seat folding up. Either way there was good room on the floor and grunt under the hood. With 37,000+ miles on it what could I see in engine realiability and average gas mileage though it shouldn't matter since it is my choice with a truck this big. The ratio is 4:10 and 2wd. It is a clean truck. Thx. Dan
