Brand Of Fuel You Use

I'm just a little curious in the brand of gas you all use.

For me, it's pretty much Chevron or Union 76 but every once in awhile I'll use Arco when traveling. I had an issue with Shell gas back in the early 80's and will never use it again.

I've been using Shell for about a month now. It works just like any other brand of gas. no decrease of gains in MPG.

The only station around me is Lukoil. Not crazy about supporting the Russians, but I'm not gonna drive an extra 5 miles each way just to pay more for exxon.

I use Phillips . But heres something interesting from an email I received.... > >

These companies import Middle Eastern oil:

Shell........................... 205,742,000barrels

Chevron/Texaco......... 144,332,000 barrels

Exxon /Mobil............... 130,082,000barrels

Marathon/Speedway... 117,740,000 barrels

Amoco............................62,231,000barrels

Citgo gas is from South America , from a Dictator who hates Americans. If you do the math at $30/barrel, these imports amount to over $18 BILLION! (oil is now $90 - $100 a barrel)

Here are some large companies that do not import Middle Eastern oil:

Sunoco..................0 barrels

Conoco..................0 barrels

Sinclair.................0 barrels

BP/Phillips...........0 barrels

Hess.......................0 barrels

ARCO....................0 barrels

sunoco and hess only. i dont have any of those other stations listed near me.

im starting to use sunoco more though. i shop at price chopper and for every 50 dollars i spend i get 10 cents per gallon (up to 20 gallons) off at any sunoco. right now im at 20 cents off, another 20 bucks i can get 30. but i think thats the limit.

HOLY HELL... have you guys been to a meeting of the tinfoil hat society lately? :D

Those emails might be nice... IF THEY WERE TRUE. This is a pure internet hoax. Pure and simple.

Most gas around here comes from blended sources... doesn't really matter where you buy your gas. It's all marketing. I actually see tanker trucks from the same company at both a Chevron and a Mobil near me, plus the local HEB grocery... You think for one minute that they go get the gas at different sources?

I buy my gas from whatever pump has it to sell.

Zembonez is correct.

Many distributors, sell multiple brands and use the same trucks and in many cases the same storage tanks. There is no real way to track the source of gasoline at the pump, as many oil companies will buy gas on the open market when their local supplies run low.

I own a Chevron station but my bill of landing (loading sheet from the port) says Marathon Oil.

I suggest that you buy gasoline that works in your vehicle. If it makes you feel better to buy from a certain brand, go ahead. But don't assume that you can avoid buying gas from certain countries.

My family has been in the Gas Station business for over 30 years, and we've been with many different oil companies (Amoco, Gulf, Getty, Exxon, Union 76, Shell, Citgo, Chevron) over the years

For the record. If there were a real way to know what we are buying... I'd be right in line with you guys "not supporting terrorists"... When in Houston, go watch the super-tankers unload their millions of gallons into the holding tanks. They all use the same location and they have registries from all over the world. Next the oil goes to various refineries. Once it gets here it is just a raw product like anything else.

What looks good on paper is rarely fact. I'd love to be proven wrong here...
