Nelson Tune...

Got the tune first thing this morning and installed it....did the Passlock procedure and the truck fired right up...but was definetly idling rough...so I did as told and gave it 10-15% throttle and got the idle all smoothed out....everything seemed well but the SES light so I called my buddy at the dealer and he was waiting for me to do the Crank Re-Learn...

Anyway on my way to the dealer I get about a .5 mile down the road and I see the Service Traction Control Message, which then goes to the Service Stabilitrak Message shortly there after....get to the next stop light and go to take off, the truck does its 1-2 shift and shifted so hard that my cell phone literally went flying off the console onto the floor in the back...it was absolutely horrible...so I proceeded to the dealership and they pull the DTC...which is C0561 which my understanding is "Incorrect Serial Data Received"....called Melissa and she claimed that my problem had nothing to do with the parts I just installed from them, but anyway after talking with her for a few minutes they have programmed me new modules and have already shipped them out...I even have a tracking number. I sent them the old ones back at lunch today...I put the stock parts back in and everything is cool....so I dunno what the deal was, but she thought maybe a bad upload??

Let me know your thoughts!

Yeah, could be a bad PCM, something got corrupt, wrong tune loaded, etc. But as long as you got the stock PCM back in there and they are sending you a new one, it sounds like you should be good to go!

That's what I was thinking....stock is back in and everything is fine....not a big deal...this thing isn't my daily driver anyway....I was just keeping the board posted as I remember writing on here earlier in the week saying it would be here Friday and I figured that someone would ask. I just hope the next one goes well!

One time, I cleaned my throttle body with the BG stuff and when I went to go drive the truck it had the service trac control and stabilitrac...when i took off from a stop. the 1-2 shift was crazy...like you said. I went home called the dealer and they told me to disconnect the bat. for about 30 sec. It worked, no idea what happened but something went screwey. This is before my nelson tune. I had the stock computers in.

Vmax will have a field day with this one in the morning... :)

:)

Why do you say that? I have no issues whatsoever with Nelson's tuning ability. I am quite sure he will fix this issue and the tune will be just fine. Now, when this happens and the OP has further questions he needs answered (from Allen, not Melissa), that is when I say "Good Luck with all that"...LOL

Nelson is a great tuner, but his customer service is a JOKE!!!

Sounds like just another "jesse" to me... :)

No way, Nelson charges more, completely different people. :)

Yep, that is why I suggested to the OP that he go with Justin at BlackBear. He charges less than Nelson, tunes just as well AND has superb customer service.

Justin will likely be getting my business soon.

blackbear ftw!

I rather go with a custom Dyno Tune for the Win.

The reason I went with Nelson was about 8 weeks ago everyone on here was pretty excited about the Nelson tunes....now about 3 weeks after talking to Melissa and confirming my order, out of no where it seemed like people have shifted their opinions......I ordered from Nelson, I'll give them a shot and we can go from there, they seemed to be one of the better ones at the time of order so I'll see how this goes, after all its my first truck of the last 5 that I have even messed with performance wise, so its all new to me.....I'll let you guys know how it goes when I get the new ECM and TCM...they are supposed to be here on Wednesday!

In the meantime I do appreciate everyone's opinions....it is what makes this board a useful resource for information regarding GM Trucks!

Thats cool, but canned tunes are worthless, a tune made for a truck with the same mods in texas is not gonne be the same for a truck in Denver Colorado.

Not to say there is anything wrong with the tuner you chose or any other tune out there. But the point here, don't listen to everything you hear on the internet. :) I figured that out a very long time ago!

Many years ago, I went with the current tuner "trend" on the forums (different vehicle), and ended up regretting that decision. But once again, not to say there is anything wrong with the popular tuners on this forum, just that a lot of people don't know what they're talking about. :)

Can't really argue with that :\

I just don't have the money for dyno time...

    • You can always count on greed to prey on ignorance and stupidity.    Friend bought a 2019 Ford Flex and asked me about using Valvoline R&P 5W30 in it. Told him give the miles on it and the fact it wasn't yet using oil that it was a good plan. He uses a Valvoline quick change shop for his oil service.   First they tell him that isn't the oil the OEM recommends. He told them he didn't care what the OEM thought. Then they floated the, "But it will void your warranty"    His reply was it's a 2019, there is no warranty and informed them their knowledge of the law was lacking.    Then they tell him 'But it will ruin your motor"!.    Mine to ruin he says. Finally they give in and charge him 150% the semi-syn price    Point it the brainwash is so embedded that even the service industry is drunk on their swill. The public is right behind them. Echoing the same lies on every forum and media platform. If the end goal is indeed EV then I'd say that ship is about built.
    • Diesel hit $6.00 here today at the truck stop.   Payed $2.79 for E85 today too.
    • Thanks for posting, I'm sure it will help someone
    • New to diesel trucks. I happened to find my oil cooler leaking oil externally with only 4,000 miles on the truck. I didn’t realize this was an issue until I started researching it. Dealer is going to replace it under warranty but I’m wondering if there’s anything GM is working on to fix this issue. I’ve heard the oil filter used is the same as they use on their V6 motors and that’s what is causing the problems. Should I switch to a bigger filter or keep using the OEM recommended?
    • So, GMCustomerService:  Judging by the Update History pictured above, is this truck missing any updates that it actually needs. If it's just for the infotainment system, the radio is working fine and no trouble with SeriusXM. and Android Auto is working fine wirelessly with my phone. Some months ago, an update notice was sent to my truck. I approved the update and it finished saying that the update was successful, but it seems that whatever that update was, it didn't actually get installed - at least not if I'm to go by the Update History shown above.   So, again, are there any updates that this truck really should have? I've checked with my dealer but they're reluctant or commit to anything and if I want them to check, they require a $200.00 fee just to check it out and then I'd have to pay for the actual update(s).    Ignorance is bliss, and if none of the updates goes to fixing any mechanical discrepancies, I'll just leave things as is.
