Heres another one concerning/affected by the axle strike....

DISTRIBUTION - ATTENTION: CHEVROLET DEALER OPERATORS AND NEW VEHICLE SALES MANAGERS

Subject: CANCELLATION OF DOSP CYCLES FOR SILVERADO HD CREW

Message #: VSD20080909

To: All Chevrolet Dealer Operators and New Vehicle Sales Managers

From: VSSM Order Fulfillment

Date: May 6, 2008

Subject: Cancellation of DOSP Cycles for Silverado HD Crew

Several GM assembly plants have been impacted by the strike at American Axle. One impact has been a reduction in Silverado Heavy-Duty Crew Cab production such that the current volume of orders in the system for the 2008 MY has filled all remaining capacity. To avoid cancelling orders at a later date the allocation volumes for the Dealer Order Submission Process (DOSP) cycles beginning May 8, 2008 and May 15, 2008 for Silverado Heavy-Duty Crew Cab (CCRUHD) have been cancelled. This action is similar to that communicated previously for Tahoe, Silverado Heavy-Duty Regular and Extended Cab, and Commercial Heavy-Duty.

Questions should be directed to your Area Sales Manager.

Wouldn't it just be better to wait for an 09 order if this is the case?

Yep,sure would be....Trouble is is that a lot of people/customers want to order '08s,A friend of mine wanted to order an '08 1500 regular-cab long-bed Z71 a few weeks ago and they wouldn't accept the order then.

Posted
I was told back in March by our sales rep that I couldn't order a 08 anymore and that I would be able to order an 09 in June.

Yep,late May/early June is usually when they start accepting orders on the next model-year,And they usually start delivering late June/early July.

So Dale, are the axle folks still on strike? Will there be a delayed start on the 2009 models?

thanks.

so what exactly is the deal with the axel workers? why wont gm just "give in" so we can get some damn trucks already

Posted

As far as we know they still are on strike, and yes,If it continues I would think it would affect the "SOP" Start-of-Production for '09.

Maybe someone else on here with more "inside" information can chime in if I'm wrong.

It has nothing to do with GM,GM doesn't own American Axle,They sold the AAM division back in the mid-'90s (I think '94)

It's a shame, a damn shame. I'm glad I'm not in the market for a new truck. Hell, when I get mine fixed, it'll seem like a new one. ha! ha!
