High Capicity Air Filter

Or maybe I should say heavy duty.

 

What does heavy duty mean, is it the amount of dirt it can hold and still flow the same CFM or a heavy duty air filter can flow more CFM than a reg. air filter.

I suspect it means that it can pass more CFM at the same delta-P. I.e., if you put a specific pressure drop across it, it will flow more CFMs than the "regular" one at the identical pressure drop.

If I remember correctly the high capacity air cleaner is only one that doesn't have to be changed as often.

That makes sense. Otherwise it would be high-flow or low restriction if it was relative to the volume of air that could move through it.

The high capicaty air filter DOES NOT flow more than the regular filter. It holds more dirt. Thats what high capicity means. If it would flow more it would be a high flow filter.It just has more pletes. This has been discussed a bunch of times on this forum.

High capacity holds more crud

 

Was (may still be) part of the Tow Package

 

Hauling heavy loads, means throttle is open more and requires more CFM per miles traveled. Higher chane of more crud collecting in the filter over the same length of time.

 

Does it restrict air flow (New filter High capacity VS standard )..... Good question.
