Marathon Road Trip Mpg

I just completed a two day 700 mi marathon (for work) Drove on just about every type of hy from 65 and 70 MPH interstates to 45-60MPH two lane backroads that included passing :) at 80+ as well as lots of rolling hills, a few small mountain passes and elevations from just above sea level to 4000 ft. I was able to hand calculate my MPG and was :cold: when it came out just under 16 MPG. The DIC showed the AVE to be 14.1 (I did not reset it before starting - besides I think it is working on some sort of accumlated miles and gal as it always seems to "settle in" to between 12 and 14 even after a reset.

I did not always use cruise, and in the mountains I often ran in M and used the tap shifter to control the speed - esp on downhills. I also tried to keep the RPMs up around 2k or above which seemed to make hills easier to climb.

I also found the seats to be very comfortable and the LT2 cabin quite nice on the long haul.

BTW for those of you in the Pacific Northwest I traveled out I84 from Portland to Hood River then up HY35 to 26E to Madras then back to I84 via 97/197 then west on 84 to I205 N to I5N to Tacoma and Puyallup- this was all on one day. Day 2 had me on Hy512 so to Eatonville, Hy7 to Elbe to Morton then 12W to I5 and back to Portland.

That's pretty good. I just had my first hwy trip in mine, Upstate NY to Boston, MA and back. A 400 mile roundtrip I averaged 15.1 on the DIC which included a little bit of city driving (about 40 miles). I did reset the DIC and it does start from scratch because right after I reset it, I was traveling down a hill and the AVE was very high.

p.s. Mine is a gasser

Yes my truck is a gasser - 2007 NBS 2500HD 4WD, 4.10 Rear gears, 6.0L 6spd. I also have a cab high Leer Canopy.

Yes the AVE MPG seems to reset, but very quickly settles in to just about where is was before the reset.
